Estimate each task Duration. Recall this is not the level of effort required to complete the task but the number of days needed to accomplish the work. Assign individuals to tasks. Type the name in the Assigned To column (DO NOT enter email addresses). Enter task dependencies in the Predecessor column for every Child task (any task with a "0" in the CHN column) except the first one. Enter the row number of the task that must be completed before the given task can start. Enter a Start date for the first Child task in your project (that isn't a rollup task). Smartsheet will fill in the remaining dates based on the duration and dependencies you previously entered. Review the results and make adjustments as needed. A good place to start is by looking at the total Duration and Start/Finish dates at the top of the project (the only task with "0" in the PRI column)
