Ethical Decision Making Model
When facing with the ethical decision in this assignment the moral rights model is the first model that I will be using, the steps and procedures for the moral rights are as follows
The first and most important step is to gather the information, facts without them we don't jump into conclusions as it addresses the need to protect the rights, the best way is to search for resources that can be a help in making the right decision that Dr Earthski should be seeking when it comes to deciding the skateboarding coaching to the teenager client.
Second step, defining the ethical issue, as a medical professional Dr Earthski should be aware of the ethical issues that could occur, he has been in the mental health profession for so long having a great deal of experience and knowledge as he disclosed that he grew up skateboarding and taught lessons for several years, so jumping to solution without first identifying the cause of an ethical problem would not be a right thing to do. When Dr Earthski takes his own decision in implementing this without the repercussions of this solution the moral rights model values will quickly be left out completely considering the ethical lapses which could occur.
Third step Dr Earthski in the vignette gets offer from his client's parents Mr and Mrs Hawk for coaching in all the circumstances will have a deeper personal interaction outside of work specifically which will consider a dual relationship as in the vignette, Dr Earhski explains from his experiences with teens, some male teens functioning better with individual sports so he is certainly building a dual relationship. He should consider his role as a mental health professional and understand by getting into a dual relationship would affect the parties.
Fourth step Dr Earthski would have to check out the consequences that he will be bearing, by the treatment/dual connection the malpractice insurance will not cover it only covers misdiagnosis, drug errors and incorrect treatment that will significantly impact on his profession.
Last step, identifying the relevant principles that are the rights and justice if it was a part of the therapy plan, it addresses the needs to protect the rights of the individual. The organizational policies and codes where Dr Earthski should be seeking. Every individual has a unique moral rights value that guides them throughout their daily life. Our consciousness knows the perceptions and we are fully aware of when we discern. The values widely known include integrity, accountability, diligence, perseverance and discipline. If we are stuck with discerning the right and wrong resources are the best way to explain the rights and responsibilities, talking to a mentor, external colleagues, organizational policies, coworkers, people or friends and families as guidance.
Personal Values Inventory
My personal values on Life values inventory plays an important part of my life, it allows me to express a rank in spirituality, it is as important to have a spiritual belief that God has a high power that is greater to us. It always reflects to me a combined good life by living in harmony with my colleagues at work, being concerned about others. It is important for me to optimize my concentration on spiritual beliefs and concerns of expressing harmony for others. I also rank high on creativity at work. I like implementing new ideas that are trustworthy to my actions and are always guided by the organization. My actions are always supervised by the organization that I receive great feedback from my managers.
I am ambitious and capable of serving as a source of inspiration to others, helping others, performing to the best of my ability and setting a challenge of my personal goals and working to achieve them, putting efforts to accomplish and succeed in life.
I have concern for other people that are likely in equality. I seem to be honest, friendly and forgiving and have a little concern for wealth. It facilitates personal and professional relationships because of the sensitivity to others.
The critical values that I hold on these findings are that I have to improve to do better. I face a challenge of stress because of over attention to the caring or selfless manner. Sometimes frustration could occur when someone acts unfair and selfish, I result in burnout, feeling overly responsible for the problems of others where I drift into a need where it becomes too intense and experience more stress than satisfaction.
I am not focusing on improving my life, I personally often have feelings of guilt and frustrations. I think of a statement that I always have in mind that "if i only had more time" " If only i had more will power" that reflects my personal goals that i believe needs to be fulfilled and established as a consistent rhythm to overcome the obstacles of such fear and guilt.
I had scored medium/low priority on empowerment of importance in opportunities that lead to increased stress and expressions. Maintaining expectations of better opportunities in life, how I view my friends who are successfully rich as compared to me I am at a low level, generally speaking this amounts to a source of stress in my life. It is recommended that I have to gain a sense of empowerment and work harder to build myself for better opportunities financially.
These values have a great impact on the vignette and the ethical violations. For all these values in the category it is recommended that Dr Earthski chips away and creates more time for expressing his work on ethical issues.in the vignette as it explains Dr Earthski is more skilled at his profession and is fit to spend more time with his profession in an professional manner helping and supporting the needs of his patients. It is important to reflect on time and ask himself if he is willing to devote his energy and dedication to therapy by developing a plan while reducing the time of personal dual connections and by making a plan of support to others so that Tony in the vignette can get help.
Making a decision and resolving the conflicts will serve as a guideline for Dr Earthski for making proper decisions that would not be injurious to the teenager. He should figure out that every occurrence that he makes will be based on wrong values. So by establishing a sound value and proper strong decision will help to ensure how committed Dr Earthski is ethically.
In my life values inventory and decision moral values that I had selected I have harmony, cooperation, concern for others, Dr Earthski should be aware of the malpractices and incorrect connections that would greatly affect an individual. In my " Life value inventory" , stress and frustrations which occur in life have a profound effect on conflicts.
In the (ACA 2014 Code of Ethics) "mentions consent in counseling relationships, when counselors accept these clients they need to take appropriate professional precautions such as informed consent, consultation, supervision and documentation to ensure that the judgment on the services provided to them will not be exploited". So Dr Earthski should look into facts regarding the skateboarding coaching and his background with other clients. I believe that Tony's skateboarding lessons should be considered a type of treatment and that should be arranged through the therapy firm. It should always remain a patient-therapist relationship and not to develop in a personal or dual relationship, in my opinion I would suggest Dr Earthski to only reveal his treatment information and be cautious about releasing any other personal information relating to skateboarding coaching to the benefit of the patient and to avoid or minimize harm so in order to respect the moral values and ethical preferences of the medical professional and its obligations.
Principles and Standards
The 2 principles that I chose in my assignment arehumanity andrespect for the right to protection, all persons who are should be treated with humanity and respect. All persons with a mental illness or who have been treated will always have the right to protection from economic, sexual and forms of exploitations which can be a cause of physical harm or abuse.
The 3 standards that have been established in this assignment arehigh quality care and support, having confidentiality in the organization that provides care and support, having the confidence of people who are cared for, and the last one ispatient safety.
The principle that I've chosen is Principle 8 humanitywhich pertains to me according to the decision making model and my personal life value system ispersonal integrity,it gives an idea to circumstances and necessities that are to be considered serious in order to decide the best course of action. In order to comply with them, the therapist must take reasonable care and diligence when rendering the requested services.
The potential conclusions and solutions to the principles and standards that I have selected I suggest and decided to encourage proper and greater communication between Tony and Mr. and Mrs, Hawk and draw conclusions.
2. In order to improve the quality of work communicating between Tony and his family the idea of skateboarding coaching Tony and his family the idea and the importance of communication of the skateboarding coaching can come to a conscious conclusion regarding the client's request, I suggest both parties researching different insights and data.
3. To guarantee that the therapist is making proper decisions on the therapy, I would suggest that Dr Earthski provide accurate reports, practices and standards on the therapy keeping in mind that Tony who is showing increase level in anxieties and comparing himself to others and due to this anxiety every decision that Dr Earthski takes should be accurate based on moral practices and standards.
Outcomes or Resolutions
Ethics are not black and white, the beliefs and values that are right are some that I would agree with and some that I do not agree with based on my value choices and ethical standards that professionals are required to follow through, these principles and standards have sought knowledge and expertise which always falls for thoughtful assessment. (ACA 2014 Code of Ethics) states that " Evaluation, Assessment and interpretation". As a result the principle standards which is the most important thing to followPrinciple 8 humanity and respect for the right to protectionwhere I would state that the Therapist must always adhere to respect for the rights to protect the existence of his therapist services shall exercise due care but some medical professionals do not want to follow and respect the right to protect life, they are just for the sake of making money out of this business and have a great lifestyle.
In the principles and standards it requires the mental health professional to provide professional services with the client's request while he is exercising care and rendering services. He is expected to demonstrate reasonable care to maintain clear objectives in any situations whether it could turn sometimes to a conflict when there is no proper communication. It is important that ethical principles and standards that I chose in this assignment take into consideration potential outcomes or remedies to the situation.
In conclusion, the decision making model, my life value inventory, the personal principles and standards and the outcomes of resolutions that I have chosen in this assignment are essential, to always keep in mind and follow those principles.
