Etimate the initial and final value of retransmit timeout, RTO, of a TCP connection using Wireshark or tcpdump and telnet. Start Wireshark or tcpdump with appropriate filters to observe only packets for the TCP connection of interest. From the same machine, start a telnet connection to a host that does not have a telnet server running but does not send ICMP error messages or TCP RST packets. Time your telnet connection. Observe the timestamps of successive SYN requests from your machine and total time taken by telnet. Provide a screenshot of your packet trace and timing of the telnet request. Answer the following questions. a. What is the initial RTO value of the TCP connection? b. What is the final RTO value? c. What is the number times the SYN request is retransmitted (not counting the first request)
