Although Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) manages both of the state roads and federal roads, Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia (LLM) manages expressways. Coding systems using alphabets and number are used to identify each road specifically. Coding systems for state roads are starting with alphabets and numbers, while federal roads are using only numbers. Coding systems for expressways are using letter E. Every expressway and highways in Malaysia has a toll system, which is either a closed toll system or open toll system. The speed limit for state roads, federal road and expressway are 70 km/h, 80km/h and 110 km/h. Malaysia has 27 expressways and is ranked as the fifth best expressway network in the world.
