Welcome to the Fall Faculty Retreat! It is almost time for Fall classes to start. We are having a day

of retreat and reflection today, so you have some time to meet with your Dean to talk about the

learning management system project. You are fresh from a summer sabbatical, so you are feeling

refreshed and ready for the school year.

Welcome back to campus. I hope you had a restful and productive summer. Thank you

so much for agreeing to lead the LMS project. I went to a conference last Spring where I

heard all about these systems and walked away wondering $$ why aren $$ t we using an

LMS $,$ ?or a CMS $,$ ?or an LCMS $,$ ?and even more importantly, what are the differences

between these acronyms? $$ ?I really need your help sorting this all out.

What I would like you to do for this first phase of the project is to briefly describe the

different types of systems so that I can fully grasp the subtle differences, and then

provide some comparison of the different features of the three types of systems. If you

can do this within the context of the needs specific to higher education $/$ college

environments, that would really help me get my mind around this topic.

Hopefully, after this first phase is complete and your report had been reviewed by the

University Cabinet, we can go on to explore some specific systems and start narrowing

down our choices. If we can do this work this year, we could have a new system

implemented Overview:

In this assignment, you will develop a whitepaper that can be used to inform and

educate leaders in your chosen environment regarding the use of the three types of

learning management systems: LMS $,$ ?LCMS $,$ ?and CMS $.$

Instructions:

The whitepaper must address the following:

$$ ?Identify the chosen environment.

$$ ?Include specific challenges and issues relative to that environment and the types

of systems.

$$ ?Provide an overview of the purpose of the three types of systems: LMS $,$ ?LCMS $,$

and CMS $.$

$$ ?Differentiate between the three types of systems including a comparison of their

features.

Requirements:

$$ ?APA format.

$$ ?Length: no less than $2,$ ?no more than $3$ ?pages, excluding title and references pages.
