OPEN RESPONSE A. Make up derivative questions which meet the following criteria. Then take the derivative. Do not simplify your answers. Please note that a chain rule outcome of 'I' will not be accepted. 1. An equation which uses the quotient rule with trig expressions for the numerator and denominator. The chain rule must be used exactly twice, in total. 2. An equation which uses a single trig ratio; the derivative must involve a chain application of the angle and a chain application of the trig ratio. 3. An equation which uses product rule of two trig expressions. Only one of the expressions may use the chain rule. B. Find the equation of a line that is tangent to the curve f(x) - 2cos3x and whose slope is a maximum. C. A right angle triangle has a hypotenuse of 12 cm. Set up the adjacent and opposite side lengths in terms of the sine and/or cosine ratios, and solve for the angle theta which maximizes the perimeter. Checking with the First Derivative Test is not necessary. D. Determine the absolute max/min of y - 2cosx + x for the interval [0,2pi]
