Ian, Jane and Ken formed a syndicate to buy tickets in the UK National Lottery and, as Ian had more time than the others, he was given the task of buying their weekly tickets. Last week one of the tickets bought by Ian won $1 million. He now says that as the ticket is in his name he is under no obligation to pay the others any of what he considers to be his winnings.
