A police officer arrived on the scene of the accident and issued Pierce a ticket for careless driving. Judith was taken to the hospital and was diagnosed with a broken leg, a concussion and a laceration to her forehead. Judith had to get 12 stitches on her head that will leave a permanent scar. Judith's car was damaged in the amount of $2,500.00 and she had to miss 2 weeks of work. The accident happened in Summerville, Neverland County, Florida, where Judith lives; the Defendant is a resident of the neighboring county in Florida, Birdwell County.
