Meryl Colgate is the general counsel of Laird Vuitton Clothing. Laird Vuitton Clothing is an international corporation with businesses in several countries that sells high-end luxury clothing, purses, watches, jewelry, etc. to its clientele. Laird Vuitton Clothing has a very distinct trademark that it displays over its merchandise. One day the general counsel learned that Laird Vuitton's company trademark was duplicated and sold on merchandise that was similar to that of Laird Vuitton. The duplicate merchandise appeared to be that of Laird Vuitton to the untrained eye; consumers may not know the difference. Laird Vuitton is furious about his brand being diluted in the marketplace and calls Meryl Colgate to discuss his legal options.
