The FBI hears chatter about the possible plans and determines that the sources are not credible. The FBI does nothing.

To make their plan work, the group must gather materials. The group needs wiring that it takes from a wire manufacturing company. The group needs access to several secure computers. The group threatens to kill Mike's family if he doesn't help. To find the computers, Mike hacks the federal government employee database and locates ten individuals with the access needed located on a home computer. The group then enters each of those homes taking whomever is present hostage.

The group takes down communications across the United States for five days. During that time, the group is able to gather the private information of 200 million US citizens. The irreparable financial harm done to these people and the US Exchange. The country may never recover. The group also sells the leftover wiring to Bill and burns all ten of the houses used in the attack to the ground. The hostages are taken to remote locations and released.

Word gets out that the FBI had information that may have prevented the whole event. A new group called Protect the People forms and hosts sit-ins on state capitol lawns across the country. Some of the state laws allow for persons participating in sit-ins to be arrested.
