FACTS: THIS IS FOR EMPLOYMENT LAW IN BRITISH COLUMBIA. An employee has mental health issues. after a year of employment at their job, their mental health issues begin to affect their work performance, but they do not disclose to their boss that they have mental health issues as they are concerned about the stigma behind it. The boss notices the employee's appearance deteriorating and overall job performance lacking, and expresses concern to the employee. The employee says it is due to personal stress at home. Eventually, the employee's mental health issues are so bad, they request two weeks' leave and tell their boss it's due to personal stress while its actually due to them being on extremely powerful depression medication. The boss agrees for them to have the time off. After two weeks, the boss calls the employee to return to work but they advise they are not prepared and would like another two weeks off. The boss tells the employee they do not need to come to work the following day.

Under BC employment law, can the boss fire the employee? If so, under what binding statutory provisions?
