Family Law Litigation 1. Prepare an internal memo to file re: actions required to commence a family law proceeding including limitation periods, filing fees, and a list of documents required for preparation (including affidavits of service, etc.) 2. Completion of basic information in an Application and Financial Statement - Using the facts in the Bond Problem...extrapolate the necessary information and complete an Application and Financial Statement on behalf of the wife, Lynn Bond. These documents should include as much relevant information from the scenario provided as possible, and where certain information is missing... use your own information and ideas to complete succinct documents. This exercise is simply filling out forms with information. Please ensure you use the proper court address and name of court on the top of both documents. 3. Draft a letter to opposing counsel. This letter should indicate that you are serving them with a copy of the Application and Financial Statement of Mrs. Bond (prepared in task 2 above), and that you are looking forward to receiving their Answer and Financial Statement for Mr. Bond in the near future. 4. Draft a letter to client with an update as to what is happening on the file to date, ie. "This will confirm that we have commenced your court application in the Superior Court of Justice (Family Division). We have issued the application and financial statement on your behalf, and have served them on opposing counsel. We will keep you advised as this matter progresses."...or something of that nature. Be sure to maintain proper formatting and spacing in your letter. 5. Submit a docket of time spent on file to date using time keeping software
