Facts:Nicole began working as a temporary aide at an elementary school.A few months later she was promoted to a permanent position as an office assistant.Wilbur is the chief administrative officer of the school and Nicole's supervisor.

Nicole was friendly with a co-worker named Karla.According to Karla, Wilbur believed Nicole endorsed an "alternative and unhealthy lifestyle" and repeatedly made comments to Karla intended to make her uncomfortable about her friendship with Nicole, to enlist Karla in verbal harassment of Nicole based on her lifestyle and to encourage Karla to cease all contact with Nicole.Karla told Nicole what Wilbur had said about her on several occasions and urged her to file a complainant.

Before Nicole could take any action, Wilbur recommended that Nicole be moved from the school office to a district facility maintenance office where she would have no contact with other workers.A few days later, Wilbur called Nicole into his office and told her she did not "fit in" with the school and was being reassigned.Nicole asked Wilbur to identify problems with her work and he replied: "you know what I mean - - your kind make a mockery of decent society".The door to Wilbur's door was open and several of the school's administrative staff overhead the conversation.
