Most of African citizens live in rural areas, and these financial institutions are typically located in urban areas. These citizens consider the ability of having access to financial services a luxury since it is expensive to travel long distances between bank branches and their area, and also lack of effective transportation. How are they planning on facilitating the citizens? They plan this by putting to work a secure and independent mobile commerce system. Providing the citizens the ability to access any financial services through their mobile phone. Mobikash allows members to load money into their Mobikash account from any bank account, to pay bills, send money to other members or bank accounts, and obtaining and depositing cash into bank accounts or Mobikash account. Some of these mobile services have a fee, and this fee varies depending on the service or tradeoff. Mobikash decided that their system had to be based on Sybase 365 mCommerce software since Sybase had already a local presence in Africa, and the simple fact that it could integrate with Africas financial institutions and to ability to work on any mobile phone. These also let the citizens' work with this system easily since they were familiar with it. However, some cons would be the lack of services within the system. Maybe Mobikash would want more accessibility for their members but the system wont let them get to that limit. Another cons would be high cost in support and maintenance, this can end up costing time and slow operations. If Mobikash would have written their own software their pros would be the level of customization, which would be their biggest benefit, since they would be meeting their exact specifications. They would cover every aspect of your business, and it also would've provided them with a better control of their system. However, custom software also tends to lack scalability, and upgrades. Another one would be the customer habitats
