Consumers have been exposed to real environmental disasters on television and social media platforms and realize the need to protect the environment. This in turn puts societal pressure on businesses to produce eco-friendly products and calls on governments to introduce legislation and other measures to control pollution. Most companies, including Woolworths of South Africa , have realized the benefits of going green and have invested more in research and development aimed at designing products , developing and implementing processes that are less damaging to the environment. 1.
