Financial Management & Application Project of Diversified Portfolio Construction

You are a portfolio manager and willing to develop a diversified portfolio for your cliental who is risk averse. He wants to investment 5 million in Pakistan equity market. Your job to find out potential investment companies which are having lower risk and satisfying the clients investment objectives. Following are the steps are required to make this diversified portfolio.

Select listed companies from Pakistan Stock Exchange. www.dps.psx.com.pk

Extract daily price of selected companies from 1st January 2017 to till-date. www.ksestocks.com

Transform daily prices into returns and calculate Average daily return, standard deviation and Co-efficient of variation and then calculate annualized return as discussed in class.

Construction Covariance & Correlation metrics as taught in class.

Select weak or negative correlated stocks for portfolio of 5 companies.

Allocation of funds with optimal weights which reduces the overall portfolio standard deviation which is better for client objectives. (Hint: use excel solver function).

Last date of submission of this project before 25th of May 2021. Further your submission should be in the form of Excel file with complete working where formulas are showing.
