Find a contemporary scholarly article discussing how to work with one of the following: grief, trauma, self-injury, suicidal ideation, or threat of harm to others/risk assessment. Read the article and incorporate what you learned into the post. Consider the following scenario

This week, your client shares his or her partner is having an affair and the two are currently separated. The client states he or she is willing to forgive, but the partner is not even interested in repairing the relationship. Further, your client discloses having a really hard time getting up in the morning, not been sleeping well, and that he or she is just not sure "anything is worth it anymore." Your client shares he or she has gotten so upset at times he or she has parked outside the apartment building where the partner now lives and feels like breaking down the door and 'catching them in the act'. The client says he or she would never do that though, because the client "might just kill someone if I did". You also notice what looks to be deep scratches on your client's arm and at one point, you think you hear him or her whisper, "maybe I will just end this...this is killing me."

Analyze how you would proceed with this client. Be sure to support all parts of the post with literature.

First assign a culture to your client other than your own. Based on the culture you have assigned, what considerations need to be taken given the presenting concerns?

Next, prioritize three issues you would want to address, providing an evidence-based rationale for each that includes any legal and ethical mandates (be sure to cite). Then, based on the article you found and course resources, briefly discuss an intervention you might use during the current session for one of the prioritized issues you identified AND a strategy or intervention you might implement in a future session.

Finally, consider the myths associated with grieving and suicide. As you considered how to proceed with this case and the cases in the skills practice 9.1 sessions, what is one myth that was debunked for you? How does debunking myths surrounding these topics become part of your role as advocate for the profession and how does this inform your work with clients?
