Find and correct grammar, spelling, and other writing errors in my writing.

What would you say if you asked the general public what sites they use to search for everyday information? They will probably easily refer to search engine websites like Google, Yahoo, Microsoft Bing, and Ask.com. This 'World Wide Web (abbreviated as 'www') is the most accessible and commonly used web for information. But will all searchable information be found on these search sites? It is a system where all data is open to everyone and information sharing is equal, but it is not. Much information is minimal, and less than 5% of the total is the tip of the iceberg. Just as the roots of a huge iceberg are hidden beneath the surface of the water, the online world is different from what it appears to be.

90% of the information we don't know belongs to the deep web realm. Databases, webmail pages, and personal banking records of millions of Internet users have properties of the Deep Web that are often hidden for security. The secret online space where that last percent exists is the 'Dark Web' I want to introduce today.

The dark web is evaluated as free space because users' anonymity is guaranteed, and IP address tracking is impossible. Due to these characteristics, illegal things cannot be found on the World Wide Web in the form of a cyber black market using virtual currency such as drug and arms trade, ransomware malware trade, money laundering, counterfeit money trade, PayPal account, etc. It is used a lot. 75% of the services are in English, and 21% are in Russian. (Source: Darkowl, Demystifying the Darknet, October 13, 2017) Recently, a large-scale investigation into a Korean child pornography dark site operated by investigative agencies in 32 countries, including the United States and China, discovered more than 300 users from 32 countries. According to a survey by the U.S. Homeland Security Administration (HSI), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Federal Attorney General's Office, and the British National Crime Investigation Agency (NCA), a whopping 223 of 310 multinational corporations were Chinese by Korean police. It has child pornography. In some parts of the Dark Web, these violent cyber crimes, which cannot happen in the normal Internet world, even talk about terrorist conspiracies and are so active that they even threaten the surface of the world. As the average daily number of visitors to dark websites continues to rise, so makes their impact.

So, does the dark web only have dark shadows, as the name suggests?

An example of a counter-argument to this is 'Anonymous.'

Anonymous is a virtual organization whose purpose is to campaign against cyber censorship, surveillance, and cyber civil disobedience movements. It is based on Hacktivism, a method of Internet activism. A headless person refers to an anonymous leaderless group, and according to the dictionary meaning of "anonymous, anonymous," anyone can act as an anonymous person.

These are influential groups operating on the dark web, providing ideas for the operation, and acting together. Since the area or content of their activity is not set, 'hackers' from all over the world declare an operation in a virtual space and perform it.

Their activities include:

  • The anti-homophobia movement.
  • The anti-copyright movement (copyleft movement).
  • The Japanese radiation protest.
  • The anti-oil monopoly movement.
  • The Tunisian pro-democracy revolution.

*Edward Snowden: the whistleblower behind the NSA surveillance revelations.

**Bradley Manning: the bullied outsider who knew the US military's inner secrets

There is also a film that captures the characters who symbolize Anonymous and what they pursue. The film also captures the characters who symbolize Anonymous and what they pursue.

"This country is wrong. At one time, they could freely criticize, think and express their opinions, but now they are forced to remain silent under surveillance. How did this happen? Whose fault? The greatest responsibility rests with the government, and they will surely pay the price." "The people should not be afraid of the government, and the government should be afraid of the people."

The film is set in England in 2040, a world where all people's freedom is suppressed after World War III. It contains the content to inform the public about the problems of British society by taking control of the country and to deliver the message that the people should not remain silent in the face of wrong politics.

As such, the dark web has as many aspects of good and evil as there are 76,300 sites (As of December 2020, the number of active Tor sites in .onion was estimated at 76,300 (containing a lot of copies). Some may condemn it or consider it a treasure chest where you can get everything you want.

Along with the positive movement of the virtual group 'Anonymous' discussed earlier, it means preventing damage by identifying the status of personal information transactions and preventing hackers through a new hacking method for 'white hackers' active in the government. It might be helpful. Considering some of the good aspects like this, it cannot be said that the website itself is 100% pure evil. Still, the dark web, which has become the basis for crimes by exploiting anonymity, is no longer a separate world, so active regulation is required in the future.
