First, a business must set goals for reducing waste. They need to identify which of their current processes are invaluable or contain large variations, and what kind of waste they are trying to eliminate. Once they define their goals, a bottleneck analysis or value stream map can be used to analyze the workflow. The results will exhibit opportunities for change and improvement in areas lacking efficiency. If a business finds many barriers in their production system, they can optimize their system by using the Just-in-Time Lean Six Sigma tool. This will not only streamline production, but also result in significant cost savings (Purdue University, 2021). I would need information regarding lead times, amount of resources used per process and its effectiveness, costs, any excess materials, communication systems, and supply and demand. These components will display the performance of the company, and help managers decide which models, methods and tools will help them achieve their QMS strategy more efficiently.
