Flue gas is fed to the absorber bottom directly at temperature of 121Cat31kg/s. Flue gas flows upward through the packing and counter-currently contacts with the solvent. The lean solvent is feed into the absorber at about 52C. The inlet data for the absorption process to carry out the design calculations are given in Table 1. Rich solvent (high content of CO2 reaction product) exits the base of the packed-bed absorber. Figure 1 Simplified schematic drawing of the packed-bed absorber (Gao \& Rochelle, 2022) Table 1 The inlet data for flue gas to the absorption process source (Gao \& Rocnene, 2UL ) PART A (SLT: 5 hours) 1. Start the assignment by writing some introduction and background of tower packings. Select MellapakPlus@ 252Y structured packing for designing a 90%CO2 removal absorber. Then, try to remove 100%CO2. Analyse and summarize the results for both removal. (WP1, WP3) 2. Determine the pressure drop and column diameter in the packing at flooding. The absorber design should include the column configuration (column area, etc). (Use GU/GG=2/1 ). (WP1, WP3) 3. Provide the assumptions (whenever possible) in order for you to do the evaluation of the absorption column design. The equation applied to complete the design calculations should come from a reliable resources and cited in the report
