For SPSS Homework 2, you have three major steps for each problem set: the spreadsheet, the t-test, and the APA write up. Make sure you complete each step for both problem sets.

Hint: you will use two different t-test analyses in this homework assignment; make sure to round the appropriate values in your write-up .

When completing the homework assignment, please copy and paste your SPSS output into Microsoft Wordin order. That is, you should copy and paste the SPSS output for Question 1, then Question 2. Then, repeat the steps for the second data set in the homework assignment.

Steps to Complete for Each Problem Set

Step 1: SPSS spreadsheet

1. Put the data into SPSS (data view)
2. Variable view
   • name the variables
   • label the variables
   • set the number of decimal places to match the data
   • set the measure correctly
3. Use the snipping tool to paste Variable View & Data View into Microsoft Word

Step 2: SPSS t-test

1. Run the appropriate t-test in SPSS, including all options used in the example linked in BlazeVIEW. For each problem set make sure to determine the correct t-test to run for each problem set. For each data set, use a two-tailed test (SPSS's default) with a 0.05 alpha level.
2. Copy the entire output into Microsoft Word.

Step 3: APA write up

1. APA format t-test write up for the problem set, written in Microsoft Word.

A health psychologist is interested in the relationship between time of year one is born during and number of siblings. He randomly samples 26 participants at a local grocery store asking them what time of year they were born during (JantoJune or JulytoDec).

The researcher recorded that 13 were born during the months of January to June and 13 were born during the months of July to December.

He then asks each participant how many siblings not counting themselves each has in their family.
