Ans) SECURING BACKUPS

Securing backups has become most crucial thing in maintaining company data or any other data i.e. from small companies or systems anything which holds important personal information.

In recent memory there have been many incidents where data thefts have happened some of the recent incidents can be yahoo, Equifax and many more, where the information of their customers have been stolen and publically posted on black market.

Where with these hacks the hackers get access to their personal information it can be in the form of credit card details or addresses or anything which is confidential. So as the technology progresses in our day to day life more hackers will arise or more hacking tools and at the same time more counter measures will be made and these are some of the counter measures that we can take in order to avoid or at least giving a good security to our backup devices.

1. Assigning particular restrictions at the back up devices so that only qualified persons can work

2. Storing our backups outside or off site so that in case of any emergency incidents so that at least data can be protected and having fireproof places for our off sites will be a good option.

3. Password protections for backups so that only authorized persons can use it.

4. Encryption of backup softwares can be done so that extra layer of security can be formed.

5. Having good disaster recovery team can help you a lot.

We cannot expect data cannot be theft safe by following these but at least we can make sure it has minimum security.
