On EDGAR, you may find the annual financial reports (10-K) of the company. The 10-K report is very long and detailed, and you do not have to read the whole report. Instead, use “Ctrl+F” or “Command+F” and try different keywords to search for relevant information, such as “materials”, “inventory”, etc. Use the most recent 10-K report, search the company’s news online, and collect cost accounting information about the company to answer the following questions. If certain questions are not applicable to the company or you cannot find an answer, feel free to skip them. However, please try to provide more information on other questions if you can find the resource.

• How do they measure and track product costs?

o Does the company record direct materials in their 10-K report? Direct labor? Overhead?

• Does the company disclose any information about raw materials? Work in Process? Finished Goods (Inventory)? Which of the information do you think is the most important to investors?

• Is the company more likely to use process costing or job costing? Do they disclose such information in the 10-K?

• Have they made decisions to reduce the workforce, close a location, drop a product or service line, outsource or take a special order?

o What type of analysis was done to assist in making the decision?

o What do you think about their decisions?
