For the first part of your project you will be asked to obtain data and present it visually in three different ways. You will accomplish this task with the help of Microsoft Excel.

1. The link Spartathlon Race Results(Links to an external site.)will take you to the official Spartathlon ultra-distance race results. The screen allows you to filter the results by year, country, sex, and other variables.
2. Using the statistic menu on the top of the page change the variable "From Year" to 2021 ( and making sure not to change values of any other variables) display the most recent race results.
3. Go to the bottom of the page and change "Display #" from 20 to ALL. This allows you to see all the results for the most recent Spartathlon race.
4. By using the cursor highlight all of the displayed results (and making sure not to select any of the statistic menu, and other attributes of the webpage) use simple "copy and paste" method to import the selected results into Excel. (This works. I have done it multiple times.) Save the Excel file. This is the data you need for the first part of your project.
5. Learn a bit about the race and its history. This will help you with the introduction writing during the final stages of the project.Decide what questions you are interested in answering given this data. Two or three questions will suffice.
6. Keeping your formulated questions in mind display the data in relevant ways. Make sure to use more than one type of graphical display with labels. Calculate various simple statistics that you find helpful. All of this should be done in Microsoft Excel.
7. Organize your findings in a Microsoft Word document. Tell me the questions you decided to investigate, and showcase the various ways you decided to display your data (no more than one page per question please.) Tell me about the statistics you calculated and interpret them in words.
8. Your assignment should include two files: an Excel file with your data, and a Word file with your graphics and interpretations.
