To make methanol, syngas ( CO+H2+ impurities) and steam are fed to a catalytic reactor. For your block diagram, take into account the following: - The reactor operates at 3000psi and 375C, however the syngas is available at 100psi and 20C, and superheated steam at 1000psi and 320C. - Assume steam is in the gas phase through the feeding and reaction process. - The reactor exit is condensed to form a liquid mixture before impurities such as dimethyl ether (DME) and isopropanol (ISP) are removed. - Product must be 99% methanol. - Isopropanol (ISP) and dimethyl ether should be isolated as separate streams
