For this essay after finishing the readings for this week, many different leaders came to my head of who I can talkfwrite about. Even though it was a tough decision I think I went with someone whojust admire for all he did, all the recognition he's had throughout his careerflife was hard to pass up, for this essay a leader I will be talking about who till this day I so many others still look up to is Nelson Mandela. Nelson Mandela was born on July 18th, 1918, in South Africa and passed away on December 5th, 2013. Nelson was a great leader in mine and many others opinion, He constantly fought for his nation. What nelson did for South Africa was nothing but spectacular, He established the first black law firm in South Africa. That was just the start, when that became official it formed the African National Congress Youth League. He's recognized as so many things when you look up his name, but one that constantly popped up was an Icon of democracy and social justice. He received over 250 honors, which included the Nobel Peace Prize. Nelson's contributions to the society ranged from many different accomplishments of leadership. First thing he did was to teach the world to never give up, and that being in the country and the cause. But not everything was all great in the life of Nelson, when he was 44 years old, he was given a life sentenced by the apartheid regime for his leadership ofthe African National Congress. While I was doing some more research on his multiple cases of arrests, According to News 18, Nelson was first arrested on treason charges which he was later acquitted from, but not to long after he was arrested again in 1962 but this time for his work as a leader, Nelson would spend the next 2? years of his life imprisonment
