For this week's discussion board, I'd like you to think of an organization with which you have a relationship where you see some challenges or issues, as well as some redeeming qualities. It could be a former employer, the school board of the school your kids attend, a store you patronize, a non-profit at which you volunteer, etc. Perhaps it's the bank you use where you're happy with your local branch, but nationally they've been in the headlines for excessive fees assessed to the poor, a clothing store you like and can afford, that perhaps uses sweat shop labor, a former job where you loved your coworkers, but management consistently made tone deaf decisions that indicated hostility or a lack of empathy toward employees -- you get the idea. PLEASE NOTE: The organization you choose will be the same organization you use in your upcoming speech assignment. Those details will be outlined further in the assignment sheet. After reading the chapter this week and identifying your organization, complete the "Box 9.2 Self Assessment: Organization-Public Relationship Instrument" on page 297.
