FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT 2 [100 MARKS] INSTRUCTIONS: The purpose of the assessment is to gauge competence in developing a project scope management plan. You will be presented with a project scenario for which you are required to develop a scope management plan. DO NOT present a scope management plan for a project of your choice. You MUST cite and reference any theory applied. Marks will be awarded for correct representation per section in the plan as well as for appropriately labelled original extracts (diagrams, graphs, tables, charts). Extracts must be placed immediately before or after the discussion in the relevant section of the scope management plan and reference MUST be made to the extract in the discussion to get that question's full marks. The project scope management plan must be no more than TEN (10) pages. Use the RUBRIC to guide your development of the project scope management plan. SCENARIO: You have recently joined Neel Gen Inc. as a project manager. Due to the high turnover the company has experienced over the past two years, they have taken a major decision to re-engineer the way they do things. Hence, currently there is a Culture Change project in-progress but still at the planning stage. The previous project manager submitted a business case for the project. The Project Evaluation Board subsequently approved the project with a commitment of funds and other available resources (inclusive of project team members with key skills). QUESTION 1 [100 MAARKS] Your first responsibility as the project manager together with your project team is to design the scope management plan for this project. Keep in mind that the quality of your plan will be benchmarked against the successes of the previous project manager (even with scope creep regularly rearing its head on many projects). The scope management plan for this project should therefore be all encompassing, illustrating every finite aspect of scope management planning and should simultaneously be explicit to all relevant stakeholders. Your scope management plan should deliberate on and exhibit the following: 1.1 An introduction (5 Marks) 1.2 Collecting requirements (15 Marks) 1.3 Defining the scope (5 Marks) 1.4 Developing a project charter (20 Marks) 1.5 Developing a project scope statement (20 Marks) 1.6 Developing the WBS (10 Marks) 1.7 Validating the scope (10 Marks) 1.8 Controlling the scope (10 Marks) 1.9 Conclusion (5 Marks)
