FORUM DESCRIPTION For 100 years the NCAA has talked about the importance of academics but has done little to encourage better academic standards, until several years ago. Since the 2005-06 school year the NCAA has released the Academic Progress Rate for Division I athletic teams. If a team does not meet a certain standard, they are put on probation (lose scholarships and/or post season appearances). The NCAA is now hitting member teams where it hurts (in the bank account). How has and how will this affect recruiting in the future for NCAA Division I programs? (For more information, look up Academic Progress Rate at www.ncaa.org).
