Gander Airlines was founded in 1948 by Fred Crosbie to provide air transportation services between the soon-to-be Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and the nation they were about to join, Canada. The airline's fortunes have waxed and waned over the years, and has at various times offered scheduled passenger services, at other times been a chartered airline, and for one stretch, a cargo service airline. Coming out of the Covid pandemic, Garder Airlines management decided to adopt "The Southwest Airlines Model" of passenger air transport. This means offering quality, but no-frills service and operating as efficiently as possible
