Geographic location can affect multiple aspects of distribution. There is the physical shipping out of your product. If I am manufacturing an item that requires cross country delivery by train, I probably want to set up my facility near a railroad. In the same way I would choose a facility near a major highway or interstate if I planned to truck my product out from the manufacturing facility to its final destination.
