He was employed in Calgary until July 31, 2017 with a Canadian controlled private corporation that manufactured clothing, Finest Fashions Ltd. At this point he moved to Moose Jaw to teach at Saskatchewan Polytechnic Moose Jaw Campus beginning August 26, 2017. He has asked you to prepare his 2017 tax return, and has given you the following information: 1) Personal Information: 2) George McMaster Calgary address: 645 Blair Crescent Calgary, AB COT 6X2 SIN Birth date Telephone Moose Jaw address: 923 Smith Street Moose Jaw, SK S6H 3G8 618312422 March 2, 1972 (306) 694-1111 (home) (306) 691-8444 (work) Sarah McMaster Birth date June 7, 1999 Billy McMaster Birth date May 11, 2005 George has attached his T4 slips, T5 slips, and his RRSP slips. Finest Fashions Ltd. has advised George that his T4 only shows his gross salary. Any other benefits he received are not on his T4. The following is information in regard to his job so you can calculate the benefits and if necessary any related expenses: a) b) c) Finest Fashions funds a life insurance policy for all employees. The cost for the insurance is $500 per employee each year. The employees were not required to make any payments for the policy. All employees of Finest Fashions Ltd. were allowed to buy the products at a 20% discount. Because of his excellent performance, George got another 20% discount off of his purchases. The additional discount saved George $520. Finest Fashions provided (free of charge) re-employment training after George was laid off due to downsizing. The help was invaluable as it helped him to secure his position at Saskatchewam Polytechnic. The value of the counseling was $300.
