The objectives of GGB include:

- establishing and implementing national standards;

- providing consultancy to organizations;

- operating product and management system certification schemes;

- making arrangements or providing metrology services and testing facilities for testing of both locally manufactured and imported commodities;

- making arrangements for company and personnel certification and also laboratory accreditation;

- providing information services related to standards and quality.

The GGB was formed with the primary objective of formulating National Standards and promoting quality assurance activities in Botswana. Thus, GGB is mandated to facilitate the improvement of the quality of life of Batswana in terms of their safety, human health and environmental protection.

Strategy

Our three-year strategic plan revolves around the key pillars of Accelerating the SMME Development Agenda; Leveraging standardisation to capacitate the growth of the Private Sector; Improving Competitiveness and Quality of Exports; and Ensuring Effectiveness and Sustainability of the Bureau.
