GHD Enterprises is a South African firm with manufacturing facilities in three locations: Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban. In recent years, there has been a marked increase in the turnover of top talents (i.e., highly skilled employees) at the Johannesburg facility and exit interviews of departing employees have highlighted employee dissatisfaction with management as the main driver of employee turnover. Consequently, the Human Resources Director of GHD Enterprises, Ms Vuyisile Maluleke, has decided to conduct a study with the aim of assessing: (1) whether there is a correlation between employee dissatisfaction with management and employee turnover intentions at GHD Enterprises, (2) whether employee dissatisfaction with management is significantly different across the Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban facilities, and (3) whether employee turnover intentions are significantly different across the Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban facilities. Table 3.1, below, is an excerpt of the data on employee dissatisfaction with management and employee turnover intentions obtained from 60 randomly selected highly skilled employees currently working at the three locations of the firm (i.e., 20 highly skilled employees were surveyed from each of the three locations). Based on the three objectives of Ms Malulekes study, formulate THREE (3) research questions for the study. (3 marks) 3.2 For each of the three research questions formulated in question 3.1, state the independent variable/construct (IV) and dependent variable/construct (DV). (3 marks) 3.3 Formulate the null and alternative hypotheses for each of the three research questions formulated in question 3.1, above. (6 marks) 3.4.Ms Maluleke has decided to use IBM SPSS Statistics software for the data analysis. She believes that a high inter-rater reliability is important for demonstrating consistency of the statistical analysis therefore, she has assembled a team to help with the data analysis. Assuming you are part of the team, discuss the steps that you would follow to select valid statistical tests for the analyses of the data, stating the statistical tests that you would use to test each of the three sets of hypotheses formulated in question 3.3.
