Gibbs dividing plane (8 points) A solute is distributed between water and an oil phase (assumed to be mutually insoluble). Analysis of the oil phase shows that there is 1 mol of solute for every 5 mol solvent. In water phase there is 1 mol solute for every 6 mol solvent. A sample of the interfacial region, of 1 mm thickness (including material from both bulk phases) and 250 cm2 area is found to contain 1.02 mol water, 0.84 mol oil and 0.51 mol solute. Calculate surface excess of solute (with respect to both water and oil) .
