Gina and Wren go to a house party. Wren sees her friend Luca at the party and they spend the evening together. As the night draws to a close, Luca offers Wren a ride home. Wren knows that Luca was using cannabis four hours prior and he seems to be fine. Gina tells Wren not to take the ride, since she doesn't know if Luca is completely sober.

Wren takes the ride home with Luca and they are involved in a car crash. It was poor driving conditions and there was black ice on the road, causing it to spin out and hit a tree. Luca was driving under the speed limit.

Wren is horribly injured as a result of the crash and is suing Luca in negligence.
