So, if validation, or the lack thereof, has the power to influence others, then it is directly related to leadership. A good leader can use validation to uplift, encourage, and motivate their team to accomplish the goals. I have witnessed this both in the education field and in construction. I have worked for leaders who were great at validating others, which eventually led to empowering them to become leaders themselves. I have also worked for leaders who did not believe in validation and instead put others down, including myself, to exhibit their power and authority. The result of this approach may be effective in some cases, but the negative effects often outweigh the positive. Overall, validation is a key component to a solid leader, especially in education when we are trying to grow and develop young people to be leaders themselves
