Global Reporting Initiative is helping organizations to develop social, environmental and economical systems and report the same using the format provided by the organization to attract investors, both internal and external stakeholders, retain employees, mitigate risks and create value, protect human rights, adhere to labor laws, protect environment, perform social responsibility and grow in a manner which will ensure both sustainability and profitability. It is important to ensure secure future of the organization. Reporting consistently using the guidelines stated under G3.1 or G4 and following the product indicators will allow organization to set long term goals and measure its performance against each of the performance or product indicators. GRI reporting helps businesses and organizations take responsibility for their impacts by providing them with the global common language to communicate those impacts.

In other words, it allow companies to demonstrate for their impacts on economies, environment and the people. It is also important to understand that Global Reporting Initiative doesn't only covers the environmental impacts on the society but also talks about the employees' welfare, safety and security. It also cover issues related to diversity and equality amongst the employees of the organization so if a company consistently reporting its performance or measures taken to resolve the issues it also means that it is reporting how good or bad the company is, or its performance in managing employees and how diverse its workplace is and how secure its employees feel at work.
