(This is the same simulation as the first lab, but this time we are studying Newton's Second Law)

Click the second box "Motion" and play with the simulation for the following activity.

Newton's Second Law

Reset the sim, don't forget to check force, speed again. Remove the box and place a garbage can on top of the skateboard. Using your cell phone's timer, measure the amount of time it takes to reach maximum speed using a force of 50 N. Try this again with forces of 100N, and 200N. (While measuring time, stop the timer when the person falls on the floor.)

Reset the sim, don't forget to check force, speed again. Remove the box and place a garbage can on top of the skateboard. Using your cell phone's timer, measure the amount of time it takes to reach maximum speed, with applied force 100 N each time Try this with a refrigerator, and a crate. Record your findings

Q-A. Summary (3 pts)

Newton's Second Law states "The acceleration of an object as produced by a net force is directly proportional to the magnitude of the net force, in the same direction as the net force, and inversely proportional to the mass of the object." [ a =
