Goals in management are important for the whole organization. Starting with the mission statement a company has is the goal for the company. This overall goal which could be considered a ten-year goal, is the next level. The leadership team follows and creates goals to support the business in the mission statement, which in return keeps the company in that direction. The next level is middle management and they complete the goals of the leadership team and make attainable goals within those objectives to fit the next level. The same pattern happens like a ripple event throughout the company. The reason why it is important is that even if there are only 40 goals total in the company and 50% get complete, which is a terribly low number, then 50% of the company has changed and grown for the better. This is a drastic improvement within an organization. The company I work for has quarter goals that support yearly goals. The leadership team focuses on the goals each quarter that will help with the yearly goals.
