(a) Sketch internal load diagrams for the shaft and identify the location subjected to the most severe state of stress (the critical section). (b) Draw a Mohr's circle representation of a point on the bottom of the shaft at the critical section. (c) Use the Mohr's circle diagram to find the principal normal stresses and maximum shear stress at the critical section. "I 4 in. 500 lb 1-in.-dia. shaft in. 2 in. 1000 lb 3 in.
