Graphing Many years ago a cowboy named Juan Viborin owned a ranch in Northern Mexico. This is a very difficult area to live in because the semi desert biome makes up a large portion of this area. It is a very dry, hot, and harsh ecosystem consisting mostly of cacti and desert grasses. The types of animals in the food chain here are; the kangaroo mouse which eats desert grasses, the sidewinder snake which eats the kangaroo mouse, and the road runner bird which eats the sidewinder snake. This was a very balanced food chain; all the organisms had enough room to live and enough to eat. Draw one graph of the following information of the animal population over a time period of 10 years. You will need to have multiple y-axies and be sure to do a line graph and not a bar graph. Remember to include the title, the labels for the axies, and the legend. This must be done without a computer on the attached graph paper. ind ca P Ha Year # of Kangaroo # of Sidewinder Snake # of Road Runner Bird Mice 1990 8000 1500 1024 1991 8500 1400 512 1992 9000 1300 256 1993 9500 1200 128 1994 10 000 1100 64 1995 10 500 1000 32 1996 11 000 900 16 A 1997 11 500 800 8 1998 12 000 700 1999 12 500 600 2 Questions: 1. Why is it necessary to have different y-axies for the different populations? 2. Discuss why you think the kangaroo mouse population might be increasing. 3. Are the graphs of the population changes linear or exponential?
