It has also been called: eco-friendly marketing, environmental marketing, sustainability, social responsibility. Whatever it is called, it has become more important to customers.

It can be recycled materials that help protect the environment. Consumers want to make responsible "green" purchases, but it can be more costly. This is an opportunity for brands. Consumers desire information on recycling and composting on packaging. When Adidas had limited edition sneaker made for plastic trash from the ocean all 7,000 sold out instantly; they are making 5 million more pairs (Parletta, 2019).

Going green has other business benefits including tax credits and incentives, improve efficiency, healthier workplaces, reducing waster and cost savings from reuse. Recycling is a good start and is wave of the future (Parletta, 2019).
