Harris leased an apartment complex from Maya in January 2020 with a view of renting it to international students. Due to strict lockdowns and covid 19 related travel restrictions, the arrival of international students was significantly dropped. As a result, he could not pay the agreed lease price of $ 5000 a week. When he discussed the matter with Maya, she agreed to reduce the amount by half for 2 years, but no written agreement was entered into.
