Hartney (2018) suggests that the healthcare system is flawed and as such brings unnecessary stress and burnout upon healthcare workers that impacts patient care and the workers themselves. Healthcare leaders themselves are not immune to these stressors (Hartney, 2018) and have direct influence on the overall success and well-being of the workforce (Schaufeli & Bakker, 2004).
