Helen of Troy owned a beautiful modern style home in that little spot of sunshine in LA County not occupied by criminal gangs. The home which was built in 2000 had a tile roof made of mountain slate. One day Helen returned to the days of her youth and went to Mi Ranchito, a dive beer bar in Boyle Heights. She shot some pool with Tommy, a heavily tattooed roofer. After a brewski or two she said to Tommy "My roof leaks. I think that the tiles are cracked. If you will replace them with all new tiles, I will pay you $10,000. Tommy replied, "If I can see clear of my busy schedule as I also tutor Fields' students in 535." Helen asked, "What's that?" To which Tommy, said "It's a sweet MBA course over at SC but like my last relationship, it got complicated." Helen then remarked "That's all right, I can wait, but let me know soon."

Three days later, Tommy drove his F350 pickup (with dual chrome manifolds, lifted coil springs, a matte black finish, and bearing Nevada plate NytMare) to Helen's home and unloaded the roofing materials and equipment needed to perform the roofing job. He also completed the scaffolding erection needed for the project. He brought with him two earnest looking young men he hired for the day from those he saw hanging around Home Depot. At a time almost immediately, but an undetermined time later, Helen looked out her window and saw what Tommy was doing, she ran outside and exclaimed, "Hey, Dude, the deal is off. I decided to repair the roof myself. I left you a message at Mi Ranchito yesterday regarding my intentions."

Knowing about as much about the law as you do, Tommy got angry, yelled some bad words, and drove off, leaving his two helpers there. Helen put them to work mowing her lawn.
