Hello all,
I hope this Announcement finds you well.
As I continue receiving questions regarding the case studies search, I am sharing with all a few helpful hints:
Step 1. Log in to the OSHA website www.osha gove and aceess the 29 CFR 1926 Statute (t showed last time in class how to access that; there is also a direct link shared in the Syllabus).
Step 2. Select your 10 safety topics (one Subpart each). Write them down on a note.
Step 3. Look at the first Subpart you wrote on that note, Open Google/Bing and start an Internet search with relevant meaning. Let's say you picked Subpart L - Scaffolds as your number one topic for your first case study. Then you would search for "construction accidents while working on scaffolds" or anything similar as verbiage. Several articles will be displayed.
Step 4. Select one of the articles that describe a construction work accident due to unsafe work practices related to scaffolds. DO NOT select a nonconstruction article!!!!
Step 5. Open the Template posted in the Week 1 Module. Save it to your computer. Name the first case study: "BCT 380 SP 2024- First name last name Case Study 1" and so on for the other nine case studies.
Step 6. Read the article first. Then fill in the info needed in the assignment named above (Step 5). First part, describe the accident in as much detail as possible, but do not include assumptions, just the facts. Next, state, as bullet points, the legality that you believe was breached by the factual events (remember, OSHA is the law here). Finally, the next section asks what would you do differently ( narrative or bullet point, again, in detail). If you struggle with the narrative, I will be glad to help during class time or office hours. 3-4 pages, double spaced, Times New Roman, 12-point in size, left-aligned text. Step 7. The order in which you pick the topics from the OSHA website is your choice. Keep an eye open to the due dates. As soon as you complete each, turn them in, one case study per assignment. Start with the assignment due next.
I will answer additional questions during our class time.
