When 1-hexene was added to 5% NaOH, two layers resulted. When 1-hexene was tested with 5% HCl, two layers resulted. When 1-hexene was tested with 96% H2SO4 this test resulted in one layer. Due to the observation result that 1- hexene formed one layer in 96% H2SO4, the AlCl3 test was not performed.
