(b) From the records of the Correctional Services Department, prisoners can be classied into three classes, upper, middle and lowerworking class, according to their social class backgrounds. It has been observed that 10% of the prisoners came from the upper class, 35% came from the middle class and 55% came from the lowerworking class. Moreover, 15% of the upper class, 40% of the middle class and 75% of the lowerworking class prisoners had offended \"crimes against persons\" such as assault or robbery. (i) If the prisoner chosen is found to have offended \"crimes against persons,\" calculate the probability that he does not belong to the lowerworking class. Include a treediagram with your answer. [5 marks] (ii) For a particular purpose, a sociologist assigns two scores, namely 5 and C, to each prisoner. Score S is based on the social class that the prisoner belongs to and will take on a value 1 if the prisoner belonged to the upper class and 0 otherwise. Score C is based on the type of crime committed by the prisoner and will take on a value 0 for crimes against persons and 1 otherwise. (1) Construct a probability distribution table for T : S + C. [5 marks] (11) Find the mean and standard deviation of T. [2 marks]
