Hello everyone, I worked for a company for 8 years and they had strict no social media policies. This was from 2010 through 2018 when social media was on the rise. I went from seldom being on social media to totally depending on my phone for information. It was a quick and efficient way for me to keep myself updated with my friends and family. That being said I got in trouble a lot at work, to the point where I was almost terminated. I quickly learned my lesson! Enter Jamal. It strictly says that an employee can't use work equipment for social media use. Jamal defied that policy mainly because social media is so accessible. Jamal will face the consequences of his actions when he is caught. He can be written up, sent home or even lose his job. The employer also faces some liability for many reasons. Jamal could've went to any website and may download a computer virus unknowingly, he could allow a hacker to get into company records by being on unauthorized sites and he could inadvertently complain about his job and the company will lose credibility. Another consequence is that many people spend idle time on social media instead of being productive. That is not what you're being paid for and not what the company expects of you. These are some of the many reasons why employers strictly prohibit the use of social media on their equipment. Jamal should not have gone on social media on company time with the company's computer. Instead, he should've waited for a break and he should've used his phone or tablet. All the best, Teylana Do you agree or disagree with this statement and why
